“I feel that continuous learning, in any setting, will help me to be a better employee and coworker.”
– Meredith, Employee Service Center Apprentice Lead at Chipotle
Q: How did you first hear about Chipotle’s educational assistance program and partnership with Guild Education?
A: I work in People Support (aka Human Resources) and our team, the Employee Service Center (which is dedicated to helping employees all around the country with everything from on-boarding new hires to answering compensation questions), works closely with the Benefits team. When the partnership with Guild Education was announced, I knew immediately that I wanted to enroll.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Chipotle team?
A: The people! During my interview I was so impressed with Chipotle’s vision, the culture and the people I would be working with that I left the interview thinking “I want that job and I want to work with those people!”
Q: Why did you decide to go back to school and enroll in the Master of Science in Human Resource Management program?
A: I love learning new things! I changed fields from Social Work to Human Resources when I came to Chipotle and after a few years, I wanted to better understand other functions of Human Resources. I feel that continuous learning, in any setting, will help me to be a better employee and coworker.
Q: How has your experience been so far?
A: My experience so far has been excellent. The flexibility of taking classes online helps me manage the course work while keeping my full-time work schedule. I enjoy learning from the experiences of my classmates, who come from diverse backgrounds, and the teachers are very supportive. My success advisor with Guild, Jonathan, provides extra support by checking in regularly to offer advice and help keep me on track.
“If you are looking for a job where you can advance your career and your education, Chipotle is the place.”
– Meredith, Employee Service Center Lead Apprentice at Chipotle
Q: Have you learned anything in your classes that has impacted your life at Chipotle?
A: The things I learn in my classes help me in my job every day and have intensified my curiosity. I have a unique opportunity to take tools and processes I learn and find ways to apply them in real-time. On top of that, I have access to a wealth of Human Resources knowledge within the department and coworkers who graciously answer my questions and support my learning. I feel more confident in my abilities and have a better understanding of how the work we do impacts Chipotle’s success.
Q: What would you say to someone not in school that’s thinking about working at Chipotle?
A: Working for a company that provides personal and professional development on the job and supports me in furthering my education outside of work is an incredible feeling. If you are looking for a job where you can advance your career and your education, Chipotle is the place.
Q: What’s next for you at Chipotle?
A: Lunch. Definitely, lunch.
Q: What’s your go-to order at Chipotle?
A: Chicken bowl with white rice, mild, cheese, sour cream, and lettuce with a healthy serving of Chipotle Tabasco.
