Your Personal Success Coach

One of the many perks of our educational assistance program and partnership with Guild Education is that each student is assigned their own success advisor. That’s right – a coach dedicated to helping you earn that graduation cap and gown. We’re talking weekly calls, direct access to resources, and even help scheduling classes to fit around your busy life.

To give you a better idea of how awesome these coaches are, we sat down with Guild success advisor Jonathan to hear firsthand about how he’s helping Chipotle student-employees fulfill their education dreams. You can also reach out directly to an advisor today to get started.

Q: Why did you join the Guild Education team?

A: Guild Education affords me the opportunity to work directly with students and serve their needs directly by providing timely advising and resources to help ensure their academic success.

Q: How do you work with students on a weekly basis?

A: My work with students revolves primarily around clear and consistent communication. Each week, my students receive an email from me with an introduction to the upcoming week and a link to my calendar. We speak on a weekly basis for ten to fifteen minutes about challenges they’ve faced, triumphs they’ve experienced, and plans for the upcoming week. I use this time to coach them in any areas that they need assistance in, as well as provide tools and resources to aid them.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a success advisor?

A: My students. Bar none. Hearing their stories, sharing in a small portion of their lives, being there when they are ecstatic over a victory or crushed by a defeat… our students are remarkable, truly special individuals who make my work valuable and an infinitely rewarding experience. Watching them achieve their goals is the most rewarding aspect of my career.

Q: What has surprised you the most being a success advisor?

A: The ability that our students have to balance an enormous number of tasks is absolutely insane. The work ethic of our students is truly astounding. Bouncing between work, family, social life and other activities while attempting to maintain a healthy study regimen is an enormously challenging task, and our students are consistently able to utilize effective and creative strategies that allow them to balance all of these competing elements. They’re modern marvels, and truly exemplify the qualities that make any student successful: Grit, perseverance, planning, and a growth mindset.

“Guild Education is here to offer the support, resources, and tools to ensure that you have every opportunity to succeed. We’ll be here for you every step of the way. You can do this. Seriously. YOU.”

– Jonathan, Student Success Advisor at Guild Education

Q: Do you have a go-to piece of advice for students you work with?

A: A student will only be as successful as their follow-through. Few skate through higher education on genius alone. College takes work, and the better habits you set for yourself at the onset of your educational journey the more successful you will be. Set manageable goals, work with a partner (meaning: ME!) for accountability, and complete the tasks you set for yourself. You may not always successfully reach each goal, but such diligence builds habits that will lead to future success not only in academics, but also work and other aspects of life.

Q: What would you say to a Chipotle employee thinking about going back to school?

A: Envision where you want to be in five, perhaps ten years. Furthering your education is one of the most important steps in helping you achieve those goals and dreams, and completing your degree has never been closer or more affordable than it is at this very moment. Stop waiting to make your dreams a reality. Go for it! Guild Education is here to offer the support, resources, and tools to ensure that you have every opportunity to succeed. We’ll be here for you every step of the way. You can do this. Seriously. YOU.
